About the Artist

Rachel Purcell is a self-taught animal portrait artist, specializing in traditional oil paintings of horses. Rachel grew up on a beef cattle farm in Southeast Georgia, with a background in riding and showing horses of various breeds and disciplines. Rachel started drawing and painting horses at a very young age, referencing the illustrations and pictures in her favorite horse books, as well as drawing her own family's horses. A horse lover and equestrian herself, Rachel uses her horse knowledge and experience in creating her paintings, with careful attention to details such as conformation, color, tack, and markings.  Although Rachel mainly paints horses, her subjects also include other livestock, pets, and wildlife.   Original paintings offered for sale.  Commissions currently accepted.
